Bring Us Your Books!

Cat's Corner is always looking to accept donations or trades of clean, gently used books.  Here are some things to keep in mind when bringing in your books.
1.  Donation or Trade?
When you bring books to Cat's Corner, make sure you tell Cat if you are donating or trading for store credit.  If you do not mention it, we will assume you are donating.
2.  Credit for Trade?
When Cat goes through the books you bring for trade, she will determine what the store needs and separate out those books.  She will calculate the value of the books and give you a store credit offer.  Store credit is like a gift card that can be used on any used books in the store. Store credit cannot be used for online sales.  Cat's Corner does not buy books for cash.
A general guideline for store credit is as follows:
  • $1 for 4 hardcover or 4 trade paperbacks
  • $1 for 5 mass market paperbacks
  • $1 for any 10 children's books
  • $1 for any 10 love inspired/harlequin romance
  • $1 for any 10 nonfiction books (any topic)
Please note that the above numbers are just a guideline.  More or less could be offered based on the book topic, author, or condition.  Cat's Corner reserves the right to accept or reject any books brought in for trade.
3.  What books won't you accept?
You are free to bring in any book for donation but please don't include any that we likely wouldn't be able to sell (extremely old books, encyclopedias, text books, reader's digest, computer books, any media like CD's or DVD's).
No credit will be given for ex-library books, hardcover with no dust jacket, dated or reference books (computer, travel, textbooks, dictionaries, etc.), or any book with damage or odors.
4.  When can I bring in my books?
Most of the time that Cat's Corner is open for business, Cat will be available to check over your books while you wait.  If the store is busy, or if she has a backlog of books to check, we will let you know.  If you have a lot of books, you may want to call the store ahead of time to check availability.

NEW Store Credit Policy (as of February 1, 2025)

1.  Expiration
Store credit accepted after February 1, 2025 will be good for one year.  If you have a balance of store credit from before February 1, 2025, the next time you come in the shop to use it, you will be given the expiration of one year.
2.  How do I keep track of my store credit?
When you accept store credit, you will be given a card that you are responsible for keeping and bringing to Cat's Corner with you when you want to redeem it.  After February 1, 2025 we will no longer keep track of store credit.  Lost "store credit" cards cannot be replaced.  Store credit has no cash value.
3.  How do I use store credit?
Store credit can be used to pay up to 50% of your in-store USED book purchase.  The remainder of your store credit (if any) can be used for future purchase(s).
EXAMPLE:  If you purchase $10 in USED books, then you can use $5 of store credit.  The remaining $5 (plus tax) must be paid with cash or credit card.
